Home of secondary school students presented the work of the sections

The Sremska Mitrovica secondary school students’ home presented its activities through a cultural and artistic program held in the theater hall of the elementary school “Jovan Popović”. Students are given the opportunity to spend their free time in an organized way, based on their needs, wishes and interests, by participating in numerous sections.

The dormitory for secondary school students in our city is an educational institution that fulfills the conditions for accommodation and nutrition of students, for education and upbringing, cultural and entertainment activities, physical recreation and other needs of students. Numerous activities are offered to students in the field of culture, such as: drama, literature, recitation, music, folklore and art sessions.

Željka Kovačić, pedagogue of the Student Home said: “The Student Home is not only an educational institution, but also a place for socializing and creating beautiful memories.” We are all like one big family because we spend a lot of time together. Tonight we have gathered here to present the work of our students throughout the school year and to present their successes at the Dominiades in Subotica and Apatin. The students are very successful, they work hard and participate in various activities at home, as well as in the social environment, that’s why I think it is important that they present themselves to the city in this way. My colleagues who work with them throughout the school year are there to help them and always support them.”

Educators are responsible for the work of the sections, and external collaborators are hired as needed. Sections are held in the premises of the House, while performances, like this one, are held in the premises of city schools.

The performance “High school students run the lap of honor” was performed in the auditorium of the “Jovan Popović” Elementary School, which won first place at the Provincial Domiada, and as Marijan Brkljač from Odžak, a fourth-year student at the “Draginja Nikšić” Medical School and a participant in the play, said: “Members drama and folklore sections, we have all been preparing for performances since the beginning of the school year. Our performance won first place and we are very happy about that, while the folklore section presented itself with plays from Studenica. For me, staying in a home is the most beautiful period in my life, and I would recommend parents to enroll their children in the homes because it is an unforgettable experience for every high school student.”

Students in the dormitories, in addition to being able to attend study classes, actively participate in the work of the sections and are very much involved in the activities of the dorm community.

“I attend the Secondary Medical School “Draginja Nikšić” and I have been in the home for two years. In addition to learning, we also have the opportunity to participate in the work of various sections every day. In tonight’s program, I introduce myself as a host, literate, reciter and as a member of the music section. For me and my friends, the Student House is not only a place where we stay, but also a place where we create the most beautiful memories, so I can say all the best about staying here,” said Aleksandra Pršić, from Bogatić.

Members of folklore, music, recitation, literature and drama sections presented themselves. They won first place at the Provincial meeting of high school dormitories with the play “High school students run the circle of honor”, based on the text “Telemania” by Ana Vukajlović, based on the text and directed by Stefan Tajbl. These students will represent our city at the Republican Domijada, which will be held on May 11 in Novi Sad.
