Atheist Rap celebrates 35 years of career in KST

--

The legendary Novi Sad punk-rock band Atheist Rap is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year with numerous performances throughout the region, and its birthday concert in Belgrade will be held on Friday, June 7, in the Garden of the Technical Students’ Club (KST), with special guests.

On the occasion of the great jubilee, especially for the Belgrade audience, during a two-hour intense concert, Atheist Rap will present a retrospective of the most important songs from all periods of the band’s career, including the off-season hits “Wartburg Limousine”, “Blue Trabant”, “ORA is the right way to “, “Year of Culture”, “Mirage”, “Western Europe”, “Prettyland”, “Dr. Pop’, ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’.

– We are extremely glad that we will once again have the opportunity to perform in front of the audience in Belgrade. KST is the space where we have grown and developed in concert, so we will try to give our best. This time we have a double celebration – the band’s 35th birthday and KST’s 70th birthday. We recently celebrated the jubilee in our city, in front of a packed Hall 2 at the Novi Sad Fair, and we hope to transfer that energy to our favorite garden on June 7. Come and enjoy two hours of punk from the era of the South – the members of the band Atheist Rap told their fans.

A limited contingent of tickets is on sale at a promotional price in the Technical Students’ Club.

The punk-rock machine called Atheist Rap was launched in 1988 in the iconic Novi Sad club Mašinac at a Rambo Amadeus concert. A few months later, the band held its first concert – on May 22, 1989 in Novi Sad.

They are recognizable by their fierce sound, socially engaged lyrics, sarcastic humor and very interesting poetic narration. They are one of the most concert-active domestic bands, they have performed all over the region, as well as Europe. During their long career, they released six studio albums, one joint album with the German band Defenders of the Universe, a concert DVD, a live album and a monograph released on the occasion of the band’s 20th birthday, and a new single is in the works, which is expected to be released soon.

The famous garden of the Technical Students’ Club (KST) is the venue for this birthday concert for a special reason, since KST is celebrating its 70th anniversary. This iconic place began its work in 1952, and was officially founded as an institution by the decision of the Rector of the Technical College in 1954 as a student club of the Technical Faculties.

The band Atheist Rap has long been associated with KST, because it was in that space that they held the largest number of their Belgrade concerts. During the nineties, Novi Sad punks were residents of KST, and later they recorded their first live album there.
