Influencer among opposition members in the elections in Novi Sad

In the elections in Novi Sad, for the first time, an internet star announces his participation, although he himself does not like to be represented that way. Sportsman, influencer and humanitarian, Misha Ronin Bachulov with his association “Be a hero” is entering the race for the Novi Sad parliament. Is it a “cuckoo egg” as some suspect, or a candidate with the potential to animate abstainers?

Although it may look like it, this man is not a body builder. Ronin is a Japanese samurai without a master, and Misha Ronin is many things – an athlete with more than 30 medals, the third in the world in Thai boxing, an influencer and a motivator and a humanitarian.

And every post of his can be seen by 154 thousand followers on Instagram. Just one motivational speech has been viewed more than a million times.

“Find yourself, be who you are and you will be the best,” Misha told a boxer before a fight, motivating him.

He recently entered the political arena – in the fight for the title of the first man of the city.

“I have been doing humanitarian work for fifteen years, and for 15 years I have witnessed how a rotten system is collapsing all cities in this country, that rotten system is run by bad people,” says Bachulov.

The people of Novi Sad saw him at protests against violence, and he entered politics in 2023 on the “European path” of Minister Radet Basta. It wasn’t long before he became independent.

“I didn’t join to be a politician, nor did I join on a whim.” “I have results behind me and I know what I want to do,” he points out.
And he wants to fight against crime, for decentralization and social justice.

“He announced that he is going out alone in circumstances when most likely the entire opposition is united in one column.” The question is what will happen to his list and those elections. This is something that we will have to see on the election results themselves,” says Miran Pogačar from the Bravo movement.

Is Misha Ronin Bachulov really the hero of the city, the Pannonian Šapić, or the new Preletacevic?

“I don’t think it’s fair to Bachulov, because unlike Bely, he really has a built-up name and humanitarian work, and he does what he really does. I believe he can live comfortably and recognized without politics. He has a great reach among abstainers, among young men, who I’m sure would listen to him rather than some other members of the opposition,” says journalist Igor Mihaljević.

And so the key question is – whose team will Ronin join on June 3rd?

“In the opposition team.” In the team that will overthrow this current government, which has been destroying us for a decade,” answers Misha Ronin.

His word remains to be taken. Because both of them can profit from Ronin’s internet capital transferred into political capital.
