Spectacular boxing finals – Serbia has seven finalists – Boxing – Martial arts – B92.sport

The 2024 European Championship for Seniors in Belgrade showed a new era, a new renaissance of the Serbian side that leads to the highest and historic results when it comes to this Olympic sport under our sky. The proof is 20 medals, of which 13 are bronze (seven in the women’s competition and six in the men’s competition), as well as seven placements in the finals, where four female boxers and three boys defending the coat of arms of Serbia will fight for the gold.

Under the vaults of the “Aleksandar Nikolić” hall, which from its very existence had the prefix legendary, because sports legends were born in it and the history of various sports was written, on its 51st birthday it hosted the cream of European boxing and made Serbian boxing immortal. that far back in 1973, seven days after the opening, it hosted the best boxers in Europe, now it has done the same, but for the first time in the history of boxing, we had a joint championship, female boxers and male boxers.

In the past nine days, 337 male and female boxers from 34 countries roared through the rings in Belgrade. In action, we saw numerous current world champions, Olympic champions, standard bearers for participation in the Olympic Games in Paris, old and new aces of noble skills and what delighted us most was the courage, zeal and fight to the last atom of strength of the Serbian youth, the Serbian boxing army who represented us at this championship. Along with the fantastic results and successes that followed from day to day and left everyone in disbelief, what additionally left a sweet taste were the fights that were full of quality boxing, winning energy and readiness of the actors in the ring. They showed that they care, and that’s the thing without which there is no medal around the neck that everyone aspires to.

In the year when we celebrate 290 years since the foundation of the first boxing school in the world, we received confirmation that this sport is still stable and worthy of being the embodiment of heroism and courage and the discipline that life means. The proof is also the frenetic fans who enjoyed the fights and rewarded every exchange of blows with applause and great support.

We entered the finish 45th in a row of the men’s European Championship for seniors and 14th for women. The boxing sectal in the “Aleksandar Nikolić” hall, the “Old Continent” championship and the pages of history written in the past week will forever change the image of the noble skill. In addition to the joint championship, the revolutionary novelty is the newly formed monetary fund and the decision of the IBA to stand by the EUBC championship, something that will bring a better future for the growth, development and sustainability of this sport whose protagonists are considered to have a heart and make their decisions for the right reasons.

The women’s finals of the 2024 European Senior Boxing Championship in the capital of Serbia are scheduled for Saturday, April 27 (women) and Sunday, April 28 (men), both days starting at 5:00 p.m. Four female boxers will fight for gold medals in Serbia: Sara Ćirković, Kristina Nađ Varga, Natalija Šadrina and Kristina Kuluhova and three boxers: Jovan Nikolić, Rastko Simić and Dušan Veletić.

As was the case with all the fights of this championship, the final matches will be broadcast live on TV Arena Fight, but also throughout Europe by many European TV stations that have bought or booked the broadcasts.
