He said that Putin made a “catastrophic mistake” when he decided to attack Ukraine.

– All of us in the British government read his insane essay on Ukraine, which he published last summer. He fundamentally misjudged Ukraine. It was like reading Slobodan Milosevic about Kosovo – Johnson said.

– Milošević believed that Kosovo is an integral part of greater Serbia and the spiritual homeland of the Serbian people. I think that Putin thinks the same about Kiev and the origins of the Orthodox faith – said the former British prime minister.

– That’s a total mistake. Ukraine is a free and independent European culture with its own identity, ambitions and destiny. He made a fundamental mistake – Johnson said.
