FORMER British Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave an interview to Sky News, in which he compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to the President of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic.
He said that Putin made a “catastrophic mistake” when he decided to attack Ukraine.
– All of us in the British government read his insane essay on Ukraine, which he published last summer. He fundamentally misjudged Ukraine. It was like reading Slobodan Milosevic about Kosovo – Johnson said.
– Milošević believed that Kosovo is an integral part of greater Serbia and the spiritual homeland of the Serbian people. I think that Putin thinks the same about Kiev and the origins of the Orthodox faith – said the former British prime minister.
– That’s a total mistake. Ukraine is a free and independent European culture with its own identity, ambitions and destiny. He made a fundamental mistake – Johnson said.
