The Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, and the President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, visited today the final works on the construction of the first unit of Linijski park near the footbridge that connects Kalemegdan with Beton Hall. On that occasion, they planted laurel seedlings and toured the works along the promenade from the footbridge to the Water Gate.
Šapić pointed out that Belgrade’s promenade on the water raised the standard of what the Belgrade waterfront should look like and reminded that about two months ago, the city parliament made a decision on the arrangement of the entire waterfront.
– This is the first phase of the Line Park, a large project whose construction will take several years. The idea is to use the most beautiful thing that the City of Belgrade has, namely the two rivers on which it lies, in the best possible way and that in a few years we can say that Belgrade has truly descended on the rivers. Belgrade on the water is an example and proof that the impossible is possible and that the entire coastline can look like that, and I am sure that we will succeed in this. As the mayor, I can promise you that we will pay special attention to this – said the first man of the capital.
He also reminded that in a few days a tender will be announced for the arrangement of the Sava Promenade as well as the arrangement of rafts on the Sava Promenade, which all fit into the city’s development agenda.
– We will never again allow Belgrade to forget about its greatest natural resources, which are rivers, coasts, parks and green areas – said the mayor.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabić emphasized that Linijski park is an extremely important project at the national level as well, which, when completed, can serve as an example to all other cities and municipalities located on rivers, how to arrange these areas for their citizens.
– This is also a project that shows in the best possible way that environmental protection is not in conflict with the urban development of a city, but is completely complementary – said Ana Brnabić, reminding that the area of Linijski Park will be 4.6 kilometers with various contents.
She added that one of the key projects for the cultural infrastructure of our country will be located within Linijski Park, namely the building of the Faculty of Music.
Chief urban planner Marko Stojčić said that the area near Beton Hall, i.e. the beginning of Linijski Park, is the connection between Ada Ciganlija and Ada Huja. The route along the Sava and Danube represents the greatest treasure of the city of Belgrade.
– This is the first part of the Line Park, out of a total of ten. We managed to include 55 young people who did each of the units individually. These are teams of three to six people, each unit is authentic in the architectural sense and represents an individual architectural project – pointed out Stojčić.
The tour was attended by the President of Stari Grad Municipality, Radoslav Marjanović, and the Director of PUC “Zelenilo Beograd”.
