Then the big challenge dawned – the World Pizza Making Competition.
“Rich people usually get married in this beautiful palace. We, the pizza masters, are not that rich, but today we will marry pizza and traditional wine,” says organizer Antonio Mezero.
After the first round of the challenge in which he had to make one pizza and pair it with the appropriate wine, Goran immediately showed his skills.
“The oven was okay, the dough was great, the ingredients were great, the impression of the judges as far as I saw – interesting. We will see the results, but I also saw that my colleagues do slightly different styles, use different ingredients. We will see what the judges will like. The judges who judge for at the big table, they first look at the size of the pizza, how it is baked, how it looks and finally the taste. The judges at the small table look at putting the dough on the table and your technical work, and one and the other marks make up the final mark,” said Abramović to the “Prve” camera, which she followed him in this competition.
The jury included all the greats in pizza making, and one was even Maradona’s personal chef. After the second round and thanks to high marks for all the characteristics of his work, Goran was declared the best.
“It’s not easy to compete with people who are the best pizza masters around the world, different styles of pizza, different ingredients… I’m very surprised, I can’t describe it! This is the second time, the first time in Naples, now this in Porto , the impression is really great,” he says.
Goran Abramović gained his first experience in making pizza in the Republic of South Africa, trained with respected Italian names and became one of the leaders in the world.
