The exhibition dedicated to Maga Stefanović – one of the first great heroines of the Yugoslav original rock and roll scene – is organized by Zorica Kojić and Dragan Ambrozić. It is supported by Dom omladine, on the occasion of six decades since its foundation.
The exhibition will be opened in front of the Art Pavilion “Cvijeta Zuzorić” in Kalemegdan on Thursday (April 25) at 6 pm, and will present 113 photographs by exceptional photographers: Goranka Matić, Srđan Vejvoda, Goran Vejvoda and Aleksandar Kujučev.
Many of them will be exclusively in front of the public for the first time, giving a new insight into the life and career of Margita Magi Stefanović, from the period before her entry into the group Katarina II in 1982, until the last album of the famous Ekaterina Velika “Someone is watching” from 1993. .
Love and rock and roll in the lens
Margit’s boyfriend from the period immediately before entering the band as well as during the earliest days of working with the group was Srđan Vejvoda, at that time a journalist and translator from the distinguished family of diplomat Ivo Vejvoda.
Vejvoda spoke for the new issue of “Vremena” about Margita’s dedication, excellent education and inquisitive spirit. Together with his brother Goran, he was part of the then new wave scene, which is recorded in valuable photographs, which will be found in this exhibition along with the works of Goranka Matić and Aleksandar Kujučev.
Born with music in her
“Maggie was universally interested in all arts and she knew very well how to quickly assess what was really valuable and to take it into herself, that ‘message’ that a particular work of art would carry in itself,” says Vejvoda.
“I don’t need to say much about music because music was an essential part of her,” adds Vejvoda. He describes Magi as a person with perfect hearing, with a classical musical education and a preternatural talent for the piano.
“Music was her natural world, as if she was already born with music in her,” says Vejvoda.
