The film, called “The Juice” and described as a “satirical thriller”, will be directed by British director Joshua Newton.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Newton said he approached Wilson about playing Douglas McCann, the lawyer who tackled many of the conspiracy theories surrounding the 1995 Simpson murder trial.

“Owen Wilson was perfect for the part. I actually had a meeting with him in Santa Monica. Everyone loved the script. His agent wanted him to do it. We offered him $12 million. But at the end of the lunch, Owen got up and said, ‘If you think I’m going to star in a movie about how Oh Jay didn’t do it, you’ve got to be kidding yourself,'” Newton said.

Newton points out that he hopes to finish the film by October 3, when the 29th anniversary of Simpson’s not guilty verdict will be marked, writes the Independent.
