KOZARSKA DUBICA – The film “Saint Sava. Russian color on the Serbian flag” by Anželika Karetkina from Moscow was shown tonight in the House of Culture in Kozarska Dubica, who said that this film is a kind of acknowledgment of love for Serbs.

The screening of the film was attended by the Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republika Srpska Senka Jujić, numerous municipal officials, clergy and citizens, who were greeted by Karetkina via video message.

In her address, she thanked the audience in Kozarska Dubica who gathered to watch the Russian film about Saint Sava.

The mayor of Kozarska Dubica municipality, Radenko Reljić, told reporters that the intention of the film is to show the unity of the Serbian and Russian people through the Orthodox faith.

“Saint Sava was a great statesman and one of the most spiritual Serbs. Through the segment of the common Orthodox faith, the unity of the Serbian and Russian people is shown. It is interesting that one of our most famous actors, Miloš Biković, also appears in the film,” said Reljić.

Director of the Center for Information and Culture Dijana Kondić pointed out that Karetkina put effort into this film and contributed to promoting the name and work of the first Serbian archbishop and statesman to the general public.

“With his intellectual moves and mental work, St. Sava firmly bound his father and brothers to Orthodoxy and the Eastern Church, and thereby made an immeasurable contribution to the development of Serbian history and culture, which are the basic determinants of the identity of a nation, together with language, tradition and customs. Through in that prism, this film has a really great importance, and this is confirmed by the audience’s interest,” Kondiceva said.

The president of the Serbian-Russian community “Zavet” Duško Milunović pointed out that the film talks about the centuries-old relations between the Russian and Serbian people.

“The extraordinary time dimension of those relations, the historical connection between the Serbian and Russian people, as well as the place and role of St. Sava is shown. The film also shows the great love of someone whom I do not consider to be a foreigner, because I do not consider Russians to be foreigners, towards the Serbs and the Serbian state on this area,” said Milunović.
