A new movie starring Russell Crowe is so bad it looks like it was written by an artificial intelligence – Scene

Russell Crowe has been acting in movies of questionable quality lately, but this performance is so bad that it seems like it was written by artificial intelligence, writes Jurica Pavičić in a review for Index.hr which we transmit below.

Movie Sleeping Dogs is a free adaptation of a crime novel The Book of Mirrors Romanian writer who writes in English, Eugen Kirovici.

Kirovici’s book is a mosaic crime story in which an intriguing motive is introduced in the last part: a detective who loses his memory due to Alzheimer’s.

That motive became the backbone of this adaptation, directed by experienced screenwriter (but director debutant) Adam Cooper.

The hero of the film Sleeping Dogs is a retired detective (Russell Crowe) who long ago solved the case of the murder of a university professor (Marton Cokas).

The perpetrator, it seems obvious, was a young black burglar. A week before the execution of the convicted activist, the hero begs to investigate the case once more.

Crow, who doesn’t remember anything, actually begins to investigate himself. His attention is drawn to the murdered man’s former assistant, the mysterious scientist Laura (Karen Gillan).

Sleeping Dogs is meant to be one-legged Mementoto another Shutter Island.

The film plays with the perspective of a hero who remembers nothing, and his investigation leads to a shocking twist that should knock us out of our shoes.

The problem is that in Sleeping Dogs just about everything screams general place. The film has a noirish villain, it is directed in a school noirish style, visualized in a noirish style, and also sounded like that.

If you tasked an artificial intelligence with writing and filming a psychological noir, the film would probably look a lot like Sleeping Dogs.
