Actor Tom Hardy surprised everyone by appearing in a martial arts competition on Saturday, and ended up winning.
Hardy, who is 45 years old, participated in a competition in Brazilian jiujitsu and won a gold medal.
It is known that he is a big fan of martial arts, and the audience in the world of MMA knows him from the movie “Warrior”, which was filmed in 2011. How much attention he attracted is confirmed by the statement that the spokesperson of the tournament called Hardy “a really nice guy”.
– Everyone recognized him, but he was very modest and gladly took the time for people to take photos with him. It was a real pleasure to have him as a competitor at our event – said PR.
It wasn’t the first time Hardy has donned a kimono, having previously won the REORG Open in Wolverhampton in August, a tournament which aims to raise funds to help veterans and EMS and police officers struggling with mental health issues.
It was hard to imagine that we would ever be able to watch him in the ring.
Hardy’s opponent, veteran Danny Appleby, told local media he was stunned to see the actor.
– I was shocked. Hardy said: ‘Just forget it’s me and do what you would normally do’ – Appleby pointed out and added that the actor is a really strong guy and you wouldn’t think he was a celebrity.
