It is about the “leopard 2A6” model.
The spokesman of the US State Department, Ned Price, said yesterday that he assumes that news regarding the delivery of tanks to Ukraine can be expected from Germany soon.
– My impression after reviewing the headlines in the media is that, probably, in the coming hours or days we can hear more from Germany’s allies – Price told reporters.
HOW MANY GERMANS COULD SEND THE LEPOARD
The German defense group Rheinmetall (Rheinmetall rhmg.de) could deliver 139 Leopard tanks to Ukraine, if necessary, the Company’s spokesman told the media group RND, Reuters reported.
Germany is under intense pressure from Ukraine and some NATO allies, such as Poland, to allow Kiev to receive German Leopard 2 tanks to defend itself against a Russian invasion.
Manufacturer Rheinmetall could deliver 29 Leopard 2A4 tanks by April/May and another 22 of the same model around 2023 or early 2024, the spokesman was quoted as saying.
It could also deliver 88 older versions of the Leopard 1 tank, without giving a timeframe for their potential delivery.
