Windows 1.0 was presented on November 20, 1985 by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, marking the beginning of a new approach to user software and bringing it closer to a much larger number of people.

Unlike the software used until then, Windows 1.0 brought to the world for the first time a Graphical User Interface (GUI), with a “user-friendly working environment”. It was a big step forward compared to the text interface of the software at the time, which significantly facilitated their use.

Compared to the then dominant operating system MS-DOS, the new Windows 1.0 brought users a new experience that enabled multitasking for the first time. Icons, menus and a cursor, as we know them today, also appeared.

The next “software revolution” was brought by Windows 95, the first Microsoft OS to receive a Start menu. Significant ease of operation and simplification of certain functions, as well as visual changes with more colors in the menus, arrived with the famous Windows XP operating system.

Windows 7, the replacement of which many users are resisting after more than a decade since its “departure”, as well as Windows 10 to an even greater extent, are improved user experience and introduced numerous new functions, in line with the general development of technology and the increasingly widespread use of the Internet.

The latest version – Windows 11, brought new visual changes and more elegant menu designas well as improved performance and new functions, so that its use, as with previous editions, would be more adapted to the needs of users.
