The pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah announced today that it had attacked an Israeli military base in the city of Acre with drones, making it the deepest into Israeli territory so far, reports Reuters.

The group said it carried out the attack in revenge for the earlier killing of its member Hussein Azkoul, who is believed to have been hit in an Israeli strike in the southern Lebanese area of Markaba.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had no knowledge of a Hezbollah attack on any facilities, but said earlier today it had intercepted two “air targets” on its northern coast.
Israel has killed about 270 Hezbollah fighters and about 50 civilians since October last year, while a dozen Israeli soldiers were killed in Hezbollah attacks, according to Reuters.
