Showers and thunderstorms set off a yellow meteo alarm, this is when the thunderstorm starts in Serbia

The Republic Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) has turned on the yellow weather alarm today due to bad weather and is warning. to thunderstorms in Bačka, Banat, Srem, Belgrade, Šumadija, Pomoravlje, and in the territory of western Serbia.

Meteorologist Slobodan Sovilj, head of the National Center for Hydrometeorological System, Early Announcements and Warnings in RHMZ, tells “Blic” that local short-term rains are expected today showers which will be followed in some places and thunder.

– We are not expecting a strong storm today in Serbia. We do not expect thunderstorms to be frequent, nor to spread over most of the country, but from the middle of the day there will be sporadic occurrences of short-term showers with thunder. According to the forecast material, the greatest chance for passing short-term showers with thunder is on the way from Podrinje, across western, central Serbia, southern Vojvodina to the east. In that central belt, there is the highest probability of showers, but it is not in question the storm – says Slobodan Sovilj for “Blic”.

He expects the first developments of short-term showers to start in the continuation of the morning hoursin the mentioned areas, and in the second part of the day, in the afternoon there will be a little more of them.

We can expect first in the middle of the day a short rain or shower with thunder, and then again there would be few sunny intervals. According to him, there is a higher chance of thunderstorms in the central part of the country, and the lowest is in the south and southeast of Serbia.

– It should be taken today an umbrella due to local short-term rain or shower, but we will not have precipitation that will last for hours. The wind was much stronger yesterday, yesterday we had an easterly, south-easterly wind and a one-day Kosava situation, but today it is much weaker, only slightly stronger in some localities. Tomorrow it will be even weaker – says the meteorologist.
