VMRO DPMNE candidate Siljanovska Davkova is leading in the presidential elections in North Macedonia – Region

In the first round of the presidential elections in North Macedonia, the candidate of the opposition party VMRO DPMNE Gordana Siljanovska Davkova is leading, according to data published on the website of the State Election Commission (SEC), based on more than half of the polling stations processed.

According to the SEC website, Siljanovska Davkova received 197,741 votes or 37.80 percent in 59.61 percent of the polling stations, and her main opponent, the president of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, who is supported by the ruling SDSM, received 97,592 votes or 18.66 percent.

The third candidate of the largest Albanian party DUI, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, who has 81,748 votes or 15.63 percent, while the second ethnic Albanian, the candidate of the opposition coalition “Vredi”, Arben Taravari, has 59,591 votes or 11.39 percent.

The mayor of Kumanovo, Maksim Dimitrievski from the “Znam” party, received, based on more than half of the polling stations processed, 42,296 votes or 8.09 percent, the “Left” candidate Biljana Vankovska Cvetkovska received 23,472 votes or 4.49 percent, and the mayor of the Skopje municipality, Karpoš i the leader of the “Grom” party, Stevco Jakimovski, 4,997 votes or 0.96 percent of the votes.

Citizens of North Macedonia voted today in the first round of the seventh consecutive presidential election since the country’s independence.

The second round of presidential elections in North Macedonia will be held together with parliamentary elections on Wednesday, May 8.

The government of North Macedonia declared Wednesday, April 24, and Wednesday, May 8, as non-working days for all citizens, so that they could vote in the presidential and parliamentary elections.
