The prosecution announced the death of a woman in labor in Vranje: It was established that she died after the uterus ruptured
The higher public prosecutor’s office in Vranje announced today that the autopsy showed that the cause of death of mother M. A from the vicinity of Preševo on April 17, rupture of the uterus with consequent bleeding and that in that case it could be a criminal act of negligent provision of medical care, which can be qualified as a serious crime against human health due to the fatal consequences.

The chief public prosecutor in Vranje, Danijela Trajković, stated that the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office will forward the case to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Vranje, given that the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office is responsible for Felonies against human health.
The police officers also collected the necessary information from the husband of the deceased MA, who is demanded that the competent state authorities determine the cause of death and joined the criminal prosecution if it is established that someone is criminally responsible for the death of his wife, according to the VJT press release.
As announced, the Police Administration in Vranje acted on the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Vranje and took all the necessary actions to determine all the relevant circumstances related to the death of MA
“On April 24, 2024, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Vranje received a report on all actions taken, as well as the previous patho-anatomical findings of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Nis regarding the cause of death of the late MA born in 1987, which was done at the request of the health center in Vranje”, announced VJT in Vranje.
Bearing in mind that the autopsy showed that the cause of death of the woman in labor was rupture of the uterus with consequent bleedingthe Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office will, as announced, forward the case to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Vranje for further jurisdiction, given that in this particular case it may be about the negligent execution of the criminal offense Negligent provision of medical assistance, which due to the fatal consequences can be qualified as a Felony against of human health, for which the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office is responsible.
