A new trick for Windows 11 makes it easier to install on older PCs

--

Windows IoT Enterprise OS includes various editions of the Windows operating system that Microsoft sells to companies for use on “small footprint” devices, such as point-of-sale devices and other embedded systems. Formerly known as Windows Embedded, IoT editions allow relatively easy installation, even on hardware that Microsoft does not support. In this way, the new trick to bypass the system requirements check when installing Windows 11 turned out to be much more effective than originally thought.

Discovered earlier this month, the trick uses a simple procedure to avoid a system check during the installation of the Windows 11 operating system. Users just need to select Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC edition, a specialized version of the OS designed for specific hardware, which completely skips the hardware compatibility check during installation.

Windows Server LTSC edition comes with major version upgrades that are released every two to three years. Users get five years of core support, plus another five years of extended support. Microsoft points out that Windows Server LTSC provides a “long-term servicing option.”

On the social network X (formerly Twitter), a comment by a user signed as https://twitter.com/TheBobPony/status/1781561501284757579who shared a workaround trick and confirmed that the same method works for non-LTSC versions of Windows, starting with version 24H2.

He tweeted that the secret to this method is selecting the “IoT Enterprise” option during the installation of Windows 11. The IoT edition is identical to regular versions of Windows, except that users can adapt its operation to compact hardware with lower data storage limitations.

Microsoft designed Windows LTSC for companies and organizations that want to avoid frequent updates or want to test new features in an unfinished state, but you can obviously use it independently of its enterprise purpose.

Windows IoT provides the same experience as the standard version of Windows for consumers, and thanks to a recently discovered method of bypassing system requirements, there is the possibility of installation even on older computers.

Many users know that Windows 11 has high hardware requirements and this makes it difficult to upgrade from Windows 10 on many computers. However, resourceful users quickly discovered alternative methods of bypassing the system check, making it possible to install Windows 11 on older computers as well. However, the latest versions of Windows 11 will most likely not work on older processors because they lack support for “x86”, which is the most common in the world of PCs and servers.
