Juhas, the new president of the Assembly of Vojvodina: The provincial government most likely by May 9

According to Juhas, it will most likely be after the holidays, that is, until May 9.

Juhas points out that he is honored to have been elected president of the Assembly of Vojvodina at today’s session.

“It is an honor, but also a burden and a responsibility. I hope to confirm the trust of the deputies, above all the citizens of the Autonomous Province, and among them the members of the Hungarian national minority,” he emphasizes he.

Juhas adds that he is happy that all parliamentary groups, including the opposition, joined the part of the parliamentary work related to the parliamentary committees.

“Nevertheless, I feel dissatisfied that the tradition was broken that each group to which the position of vice president belongs according to the mathematical principle did not propose candidates. It slightly ruins the reputation of this house, which we should protect together, but the political decision should be respected and everyone bears responsibility for their decisions.” , says Juhas.

When asked by a journalist from 021.rs, whether it can be expected that if the deputies from the parliamentary groups that were formed from the Serbia against violence list change their minds, the composition of the vice-presidents of the Assembly will be changed, Juhas replies that what was agreed at the first session will be respected until the end of the mandate .

“They were given an additional deadline and time to pause and think. We accepted their decision with displeasure. The bodies have already been formed, so we will continue and finish the work.” says the president of the Vojvodina parliament.

Juhas assesses that the two-month break in the holding of the constituent session was in accordance with the rules of procedure, as well as that the representatives of the opposition parliamentary groups were also informed about the date, time and topics.

81 MPs voted for the election of Balint Juhas to this position. Three MPs from the ranks of the Serbian Progressive Party were elected vice-presidents. We are talking about Damir Zobenica, Aleksandra Maletić and Nemanja Zavišić.

The fourth vice president is Boris Novaković from the Socialist Party of Serbia.

Today, before the session, Radivoje Jovović from the Zajedno party reiterated the position that the opposition will not nominate vice presidents.

“We will not legitimize the work of this assembly in that way. We categorically refuse to pretend that the assembly is democratic,” pointed out Jovović in front of the opposition parliamentary groups that emerged from the “Serbia against violence” coalition.

Sandra Stojković was again appointed as the General Secretary of the Assembly of Vojvodina. She held that position in the last convocation as well.

Let us remind you that the constitutive session began on February 9, and the continuation was waited for more than two months.
