“China’s demands are consistent, we always stand for mutual respect for core interests. The United States should not interfere in China’s internal affairs, should not suppress China’s development, and should not cross Beijing’s red lines on sovereignty, security and China’s interests,” Wang Yi was quoted as saying by China Central Television.
As the minister noted, although relations between China and the US have generally stabilized, negative factors are still present.
“The world is watching whether Beijing and Washington will work together to solve global problems or whether they will enter into a conflict in which both sides will lose,” he added.
Blinken has been visiting China since April 24, and has already visited Shanghai, where he met with local party committee secretary Chen Jining, business representatives and students.
On Thursday, the Secretary of State arrived in Beijing for talks with Wang Yi. It has not yet been announced whether Chinese President Xi Jinping will receive the US Secretary of State.
