Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Criminal Police Department and the Police Department in Novi Sad, in cooperation with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad and the Republic Market Inspection, arrested the duo on suspicion of having committed criminal acts of unauthorized use of someone else’s business name and other special markings of goods or service and illicit trade.

MM (46) from the Belgrade area was also arrested, against whom a criminal complaint will be filed for assisting in the commission of the criminal offense of unauthorized use of someone else’s business name and other special marks for goods or services.

After searching several locations, in the area of ​​Novi Sad and Belgrade, the police found a large amount of counterfeit food and household chemical products, as well as equipment for their production and packaging, in Veternik.

Among other things, more than two thousand confectionery products, 26 barrels with raw materials for making detergents, more than 11 thousand pieces of packaging for confectionery products and household chemicals were found.

SJ and MJ were detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought, along with a criminal report, to the basic public prosecutor in Novi Sad.

Trade Minister Tomislav Momirović previously stated that the market inspectors of the Ministry of Trade discovered the illegal production of counterfeit household chemicals, detergents and shampoos of the “Procter&Gamble” brand, as well as counterfeit Plazma biscuits.

He added that all the goods were intended for further sale on the markets, and that “behind everything was a well-organized group from the area of ​​Novi Sad”.

Momirović added that there is an ongoing inspection in Belgrade related to the control of the printing house that made packaging for counterfeit confectionery products, during which members of the MUP seized a laptop, a computer and a mobile phone.
