With the arrival of Windows 11 24H2 version, the Microsoft operating system will be fully prepared for applications that intensively use artificial intelligence. Microsoft has added programming code that will warn you if your computer does not meet the hardware requirements to support the operation of AI services.

This information was found by a Twitter/X insider https://twitter.com/thebookisclosed/status/1782399407310410044. The warning will be displayed as a watermark, so you’ll know if you can’t use certain AI-powered apps, primarily because of an inappropriate CPU model.

It was previously thought that only the PopCnt instruction set was the only requirement, but subsequent code analysis revealed a mandatory requirement for the full SSE4.2 instruction set to be present. Regardless of this discovery, in principle it should not make a big difference for most users because processors that support the operation of Windows 11 systems are already optimized for the execution of SSE4.2 instructions anyway.

Microsoft is introducing radical changes in the new Windows 11 version

Still, it’s interesting to see Microsoft add this check for its AI-powered apps. Some of these apps are probably Advanced Copilot and AI File Explorer. It has also been revealed that the upcoming Windows 11 version will include the DirectX AI Super Resolution scaling option for display resolution in games.

The mentioned user analyzed the Windows 11 Insider Build 26200 version in detail and found that File Explorer has additional requirements like AI Explorer, coded into the operating system. The coding included hardware requirements for the presence of a suitable CPU model with the necessary instructions and at least 16 GB of memory.

It is interesting that Microsoft added this check since Windows 11 24H2 will not even start without processor support for the specified set of instructions, which we reported to you about yesterday.

An additional check of the capabilities of your central processor in the computer, comes at a time when the Windows 11 OS is suffering more and more criticism from enthusiasts. Microsoft has decided to introduce the display of advertisements that connect to its app store in the form of “recommendations” in the main Start menu.

A few days ago, which we also wrote about, the performance of the Start menu was criticized by a former Microsoft developer. Microsoft has also shut down the ability to customize the Windows 11 user interface using well-known applications from third-party software companies. These rather unpopular steps are driving users further away from the Windows 11 operating system, but it seems that Microsoft is not paying much attention to their wishes, reports tomshardware.
