Among video game players, it has been known for years which events are not to be missed, in the US it was “E3” and in Europe “Gamescom”, whether it refers only to on line following, or to those more fortunate who attended those traditional events live. The only company that managed to independently create its own summit where thousands of fans of only its games will come is Blizzard, with its “BlizzCon”. This event started in 2005 and until 2019 it was held only twice, and every year the number of visitors only grew. The pandemic started a number of years in which this event was not held, so from 2020, only last year it was held as we knew it before the pandemic, because it was technically held in 2021 as well, but only on linewe are again without “BlizzCon” this year.

One of the probably main reasons why it won’t take place is the lack of material to cover such an event without the fans going “crazy”. For WoW and Diablo IV new expansions have already been announced, and they don’t seem to be preparing anything new. Another possible reason for the absence of the event is the possible desire of the new owners of Blizzard, to keep all eyes on the “Xbox Showcase” and other Microsoft events. As they announced from Blizzard, they will be present in Cologne at “Gamescom”, they will also mark thirty years Warcraftbut they are not giving up on BlizzCon for some future years.

It should be pointed out that the last “BlizzCon” did not go well with the visitors, the event was marked by a large number of technical and other problems, and it can be seen that in the traditional musical part of the event, they began to skimp hard, rock legends used to play at the event, and the last couple of times it’s been far from that. With all that, ticket prices for the event have been rising rapidly, the last time before the pandemic the prices ranged from $30 to $230, and last year they were from $70 to as much as $300.
