Pocket S looks like a high-quality smartphone with integrated controls or perhaps a “hybrid”, more advanced version Nintendo Switch Lite consoles. Between the control buttons there is a six-inch borderless IPS screen, with a resolution of 2560×1440 and a brightness level of 400 nits, which covers one hundred percent of the sRGB spectrum. Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 is an octa-core chip with Adreno A32 graphics card, and the most powerful configuration can provide 16 gigabytes of LPDDR5x memory and 1 terabyte of UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 4.0 space. The console will ship with it installed Android 13 system.

Significant elements, reasons for which Pocket S belongs to the category of consoles are Hall sensor joysticks with RGB lighting, metal “armor” with active air cooling processed by a CNC machine, a battery of six thousand milliampere-hours, and Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 are in charge of wireless connectivity. Two built-in microphones cancel out background noise while you “battle” with your party. Other, modular options include a slot for a micro SD card that allows expansion of the storage space, the possibility of replacing the keys (A and B or X and Y), as well as a start button with an integrated fingerprint reader.

The dimensions of the Ayaneo Pocket S console are 213.9×85×14 millimeters and it weighs only 350 grams. Although the six-inch screen, by modern standards, seems insufficiently spacious, the outputs to larger ones are easily available and fast. The device has a USB 3.2 Type-C port that supports transfer speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second, and a pleasant surprise is the presence of a DisplayPort 1.4 video output. Fast charging of 40 watts will ensure compatibility with any modern smartphone charger.

Interested buyers can order (pre-order) black or white Pocket S through the Indiegogo platform. The starting price is $400 for the “1080p” edition with 12 gigabytes of memory and 128 gigabytes of storage space, and shipping is expected in June. The most powerful “1440p” model comes with 16 gigabytes of RAM and one terabyte of local storage and costs $591, but it could be “on the doorstep” as early as May.
