American actress Ann Hatch (53) died a week after being seriously injured in a car accident. The news was confirmed by her family, after she had previously announced that she would be taken off life support, the Guardian reported.

Anne Hatch was in critical condition after a car accident in Los Angeles last week.

As a reminder, the actress suffered “severe brain injuries” in the accident, according to a statement from the agent of the 53-year-old actress yesterday. “She decided a long time ago to donate her organs and doctors are keeping her alive in order to determine whether they are suitable for donation,” says Jutarnji.hr.

The press release also thanked the outpouring of support for Anna Heche and the medical staff who treated her burns at West Hills Hospital in North Los Angeles.

“Anne had a big heart and won over everyone she met with her nobility,” the statement added.

She believed that spreading kindness and joy was the most important task in her life, more important than her exceptional talent,” the statement continues, noting that everyone will “remember her for her courage and honesty.”

The actress has been in a coma since the Aug. 5 crash when she crashed her car into a two-story building in the Mar Vista neighborhood, “causing damage to the building and a large fire,” Los Angeles fire officials said.

Fifty-nine firefighters extinguished the fire for 65 minutes, the same source adds.

The Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement released Thursday that it will conduct a blood test on Hatch and that investigators will “refer the matter to the appropriate judicial authorities.” The police, however, do not say whether the case will end up in court.

On the same day, local media reported that the first blood tests showed the presence of narcotics in the blood. But other analyzes must be done to determine whether the positive finding may be related to some medical treatment.

According to TMZ, an internet portal that follows celebrities, citing unnamed police sources, Heche tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, a strong synthetic opioid analgesic used in some treatments.

Anne Hatch starred in a number of films in the 1990s, including Six Days Seven Nights and Donnie Brasco. She is also known for her role in the soap opera “The Other World”, for which she was awarded an Emmy in 1991.

In the 1990s, she was in a relationship with presenter Ellen DeGeneres.
