A scandal like no one remembers at the World Cup, and everything was wrapped up to hide the truth

The Serbian national football team played a match against Cameroon in the second round of Group G at the World Cup in Qatar, and before that duel there were quite ugly scenes in the “lions” camp. The football world is talking about them today, because the scandal that was only announced by the unofficial knowledge of journalists – has now come true.

Let’s remind, Serbia and Cameroon played 3:3 in a dramatic game. and after that sthe selector of the African selection, Rigober Song, appeared in front of the journalists, who asked him if he really had a fight with one of the two biggest stars of the team, the goalkeeper Andrea Onan.

He tried to hide the truth that the media had been buzzing about for several hours: the Inter net keeper (who likes to play quite aggressively compared to most goalkeepers, likes to run out of the penalty area and help both the defense and the midfield) did not want to agree to coach Song’s instruction not to do that in the match with Serbia.

As a result of this attitude, Andre Onana was kicked out of the team before the game with the “eagles”, and then the journalists began to talk that the famous goalkeeper decided to leave the World Cup immediately, even before the match against Brazil in the third round of the group stage. That game, if Cameroon pull off a miracle, could propel the Africans into the knockout stages, yet Onana was thought to remain in Qatar whether or not he played against the title favourites.

But, although Song at the press conference after the match with Serbia tried to “drop the ball” (saying “We will have a chance to see if he will still be with us or not. It depends on him. I told him to wait (with the decision to leave). He must return to himself, to normal”), Onana decided to leave Qatar immediately.

– I want to express my commitment to the country and the national team. Yesterday I was not allowed to be on the field and help Cameroon, as I always do, to achieve common goals. I have always behaved in the way that is best for the team to achieve success, in a decent way. I used all my strength and abilities to find a solution for what sometimes happens to football players, but there was no good will on the other side. Some moments are difficult to understand. However, I will always respect and support the decisions of people who want the success of our national team and country. I send my support to my teammates, because we showed that we can go far in this competition. The values that I promote as a person and as a player are the ones that define me, that my family instilled in me when I was a child. Representing Cameroon has always been a privilege.
