Damien Le Talek, the favorite of Zvezda fans because of the games in the 2017/18 season, ended his career in Vietnam and opened an official mission in Russia. The Frenchman became an adviser to the president of Zenit’s Board of Directors.
The Saint Petersburg club said Le Talek’s role will be to develop partnerships with clubs and football organizations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Le Taleku’s wife is Russian, he played for Mordovia and Moscow Torpedo, so there is no surprise that he accepted Zenit’s invitation.
A former member of the junior national team of France and one of the great hopes of Borussia Dortmund, coach Miodrag Božović brought him to Crvena zvezda halfway through the 2015/16 championship season.
He arrived as a replacement for Marko Grujić in the midfield, but his best performances were as a stopper in the 2017/18 season. He was sent off from the club to a standing ovation from the fans, although he refused to renew his contract.
After leaving Red Star, Le Talek played for Montpellier, AEK Athens, Torpedo Moscow, Sochaux and Hanoi from Vietnam.
