Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez will be absent until the end of the season due to abdominal surgery, writes the Argentinian newspaper “Ole”. Recovery will take several weeks.
Fernandez suffered and played in pain, and there was an option to move the treatment to the summer. After consultation with the doctors of Chelsea and the Argentine national team, it was decided to act immediately.
The intention is that Fernandez will be ready for the Copa America on June 20.
The Argentina trophy squad member from Qatar arrived at Stamford Bridge from Lisbon in January 2023 in a deal worth 121 million euros. His performances this season have not been at a high level, and neither has the entire Chelsea squad.
Enzo played 40 out of 45 matches of the London club this season.
