There’s no doubt that the NBA is the world’s best basketball competition, but some of the refereeing lapses in this league are truly astonishing.

In this aspect, the interpretation of the rules on handling the ball stands out. In a staggering number of cases, referees ignore the rules about how many steps a player is allowed to take without dribbling.

We could see one such scene during the third game of the first round of the playoffs, in which the Phoenix Suns met the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Rudy Goberthe center of the Minneapolis team, was going on the counterattack when he took a lot of steps without a single dribble.

The footage is such that even those who follow basketball know that the rules have been broken. The American commentators saw it, and so did the Phoenix players and fans, but, in some inexplicable way, the referees didn’t notice anything wrong.
