Many fans at the World Cup in Qatar expressed either pleasant surprise or disappointment with the offered accommodation due to the high price and full capacity.
The village of Barwa Baharat al Janub, about 30 kilometers from Doha, offers the cheapest accommodation from 80 euros for one night in a double room with iron beds and wardrobes and a bathroom, with a shared kitchen in three-story barracks.
Those barracks are full, and some fans said that in the photos of those rooms on the Internet, the accommodation does not look like anything special, but the most important thing is the price.
Some fans in those barracks complained that there are no tables or chairs in the rooms, but they are satisfied that nearby supermarkets and restaurants are open around the clock.
In the tents of the artificial island of Ketaifan, about 20 kilometers from Doha, fans have a different experience, and for one night you need to spend 200 euros.
The tents are like double rooms, they have a bedside table next to the bed, a lamp, electrical sockets and a fan.
– No television and no air conditioning – said one fan and added that there isn’t even a real bathroom, it’s a toilet cabinet with a water hose.
However, even on that artificial island, the capacity is full.
Fan Village, about 50 kilometers north of Doha, offers much more luxurious accommodation with spacious and air-conditioned tents, equipped with TVs, fridges and bathrooms. Some have a small gym and swimming pools and access to the beach in front. The price for one night is from 400 euros to 1,000 euros.
Among the most expensive options still available are rooms on a docked cruise ship that cost more than €1,000 a night. A similar price is for rooms in villas.
The World Cup lasts until December 18.
