Canada’s goalkeeper and team captain at the end of the match, Milan Borjan, was exposed to fierce insults from the Croatian fans.
It was a shocking glorification of the criminal military operation “Storm” in the middle of the World Cup in Qatar.
The Croats also displayed an insulting banner against Borjan, with a picture of a tractor that is associated with the military action “Storm”, during which more than 250,000 Serbs were expelled and more than 2,000 people, mostly civilians, were killed.
By the way, John Deere is the most famous tractor brand in the world, so it was used as a painful reminder of the time when Serbs left Krajina on tractors, after one of the biggest ethnic cleansings on European soil.
Milan Borjan was also in the column of refugees from the then Republic of Srpska Krajina.
Croatian fans constantly provoked Borjan and chanted insultingly at him: “Milan, Serbs – get high…”.
The fans, who were more focused on the Canadian goalkeeper than on the game itself, also had a banner that read “Nothing runs like Borjan”.
The Croats continued to provoke Borjan, they also shouted: “Vukovar, Vukovar”. The provocations did not stop even after the end of the game and the convincing victory of Croatia against Canada with 4:1.
