The Simpsons “killed off” a character who appeared regularly in the popular series for 35 years

The Simpsons “killed off” a long-running supporting character who had been around for almost 35 years and appeared in the first episode, the 1989 Christmas special, “The Simpsons Roasting on Fire.”

Namely, in the last episode of “The Simpsons” aired this weekend, Larry “The Pond Fly” dies. The regular guest of “Mo’s Bircuz” just died in his favorite Bircuz where he was a regular guest since the first episodes of the popular series in 1989. Homer, Moe, Lenny and Carl attend Larry’s funeral in the last episode of the wacky Springfield family, where they realize they knew very little about him even though they had known each other for years.

Homer therefore wonders if they are therefore “terrible people”. In her speech at the funeral, Larry’s mother mentioned the regular guests of the favorite Springfield bar.

– My Lawrence was always talking about his best friends, the guys from Mo’s Birchhouse – after which she encouraged them to come up and say a few words about him.

Homer, Moe, Lenny and Carl are tasked to Larry’s ashes were taken to his “special place” – Serenity Falls, after his mother gave them a group photo of them all together.

Although he was a quiet character not central to the show’s main plot points, Larry has been a regular on “Mo’s Burrow” since the first episodes in 1989, making his death significant to many “Simpsons” fans.

Simpsons fans took to social media to comment on the character being killed off, given that death rarely happens on the show.. When promotional images for the episode were released earlier this month, one user wrote: “Finally giving Larry a big spotlight after 35 years of being in the background… and he DOESN’T DIE”.

Another commented: “One thing about the latest episode of The Simpsons is that, all kidding aside, Larry’s life was really sad and tragic.”

Some fans were shocked by the character’s death: “I can’t believe they killed off Larry on The Simpsons last night. RIPLarry ”, while some didn’t even know his character existed: “I’m over 30 and under 40, I’ve been watching The Simpsons all my life and I just discovered that the guy sitting at the bar is called Larry.” Although a silent character who was not central to the show’s main plot points, Larry had been appearing at Moe’s Bar since the first episodes in 1989, making his death significant to some Simpsons fans.

One user wrote: “Shit, Larry from The Simpsons is dead, rest in peace my drunken king,” while another posted before the episode aired: “I just found out they’re going to kill off Larry on The Simpsons. I need a minute.”
