The story of the stalker is just the tip of the pyramid in the latest Netflix series “Baby reindeer”, which will give you more than you bargained for. In the seven-episode series, Donnie is a rape victim and experiences events that put his life and ambitions in perspective from which he has not yet recovered. The story begins when his psychotic stalker, Martha, played by the masterful Jessica Gunning, enters his life, while the details of his attack are shown in a graphic episode that deals with the so-called “grooming” of the victim and the manipulations that played a role in his abuse. Through the exploration of his sexuality after a traumatic experience, he enters into a relationship with a transgender woman.

Gad said the story was “very emotionally true”, telling the Guardian that he was “severely stalked and abused”. “But we wanted it to exist in the realm of art, as well as protect the people the story is based on,” he said.
