Fabian O’Neill in serious condition

The famous Uruguayan football player Fabian O’Neill is in serious condition.

The former Juventus player was urgently hospitalized in Montevideo due to complications caused by cirrhosis of the liver.

O’Neill was placed in the intensive care unit and doctors are fighting around the clock to save him.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the 49-year-old footballer is in serious condition due to liver problems. Namely, he was hospitalized in 2016 and 2020 due to problems with his bladder and liver.

He managed to recover, but due to alcohol consumption, the situation worsened again and he is now in an extremely critical condition.

O’Neill started his professional career in Nacional, which competed in the First League of Uruguay, and was in the first team from 1992 to 1995. In 1996, he signed for Cagliari (Italy), where he stayed until 2000, when he moved to Juventus. In January 2002, he signed for Perugia, and eventually returned to Cagliari, which was then in Serie B.

Retirement followed and O’Neill returned to Uruguay where he devoted himself to raising cattle on a ranch. However, in January 2003, he decided to return to the most important sideline in the world, and signed for Nasional again. However, he played only five times for the Uruguayan first division team in that season.

Fixed matches in Italian football

“While I was a player of Cagliari, I arranged a match with Chievo. A draw suited both of us while we were fighting for survival. We also received an award from the leaders of our clubs for survival in the league. I arranged a draw with the captain of Chievo, as well as with my teammates . We still went to the bookies to put money on a draw. In the 87th minute we took a 2-1 lead through Diego Lopez. I went up to him and said: Fix this, be guilty of the goal conceded or they will crucify us. And then we until the end of the match we conceded a goal,” the Uruguayan once said.

He pointed out that he fixed one game while he was playing for Perugia.

“I was the captain of Perugia. I agreed on the result and we all bet again. Everything went as we agreed,” said O’Neill.

VICES RUINED HIM

Wasted money on betting, slow horses and fast women!

During his career he made a lot of money, but he chalked it all up to vices and beautiful women.

“I’ve got nothing left. I’ve spent $14 million. Who’s to blame? Slow horses and fast women,” O’Neill said, adding:

“I’m poor, but I’m happy again. The main thing is that my family and I have something to eat. I found new friends, the real ones, not the fake ones who were by my side when I was rich.”

O’Neill also spent money on alcohol and nightlife.

“It’s my fault. Women fell in love with my drunken version, and then they tried to change me. No one could change me. They even offered me the help of a psychologist. Even my ex-wives are richer than me.”

The famous Uruguayan was eventually forced to work as a waiter in order to survive.

After the surgery he had a few years ago, he promised his children that he would stop drinking, he also went to a drug addiction clinic, but he didn’t last.

He returned to his old vices and now his life hangs in the balance.
