German prosecutor Christian Walters dismissed hopes of progress in the search for Britain’s Madeleine McCann, who disappeared 16 years ago, after police ended their search of a tank in Portugal. A source close to the investigation told Reuters there was “nothing to report” after the three-day manhunt.
German authorities, who have named a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, are helping Portuguese teams search a remote inland area.

Heavy machinery was used in the investigation
Madeleine McCann was three years old in May 2007 when she disappeared from the room where she was sleeping in the apartment her family was staying at in the resort of Praia da Luz on the Algarve coast. This reservoir, or reservoir, is located about 50 kilometers inland from the resort.
Heavy machinery was used to cut down huge undergrowth at the site, while uniformed and plainclothes police raked the ground.

– Of course there is a certain expectation, but not too great – prosecutor Christian Walters told Reuters. He added that it is important to show that the authorities are investigating the case and that, of course, they are looking for the body, but also for other things.
– Any discovery of clothing would help the investigation – he said.

Suspect Christian Brunker
Last year, German prosecutors named Christian Bruckner as the official suspect in the girl’s disappearance. He is a convicted child abuser and drug dealer and loved visiting the now-searched lake, calling it “his paradise”.
Christian Bruckner is currently in prison for raping a 72-year-old woman in the same Algarve region where Madeleine McCann disappeared, but has not been charged in the matter.
The unnamed sources said investigators had collected certain samples to be analyzed in Germany. Citing anonymous sources, the newspaper “Daily Mail” announced that investigators were looking for a gun and a camcorder that were stolen from the house of the main suspect Bruckner. Police believe the camera contains footage or photos of Madeline, as well as other sexual assaults Bruckner carried out on at least two unidentified women.
