Russia supports China’s position on Taiwan, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said today. After the meeting of security officials, he pointed out that China, and not only Russia, is one of the centers of the multipolar world, TASH reported.
– So, as soon as the Western countries, if they think they can, prevail over Russia, they will move on to their next goal, which could hardly be achieved in parallel, that is China – stressed Patrushev and added that Russia is aware of what “is being done now on the Chinese border – on Taiwan”.
– In general, it is difficult to disagree with China – he said.
The newly established China Committee of the US Congress yesterday approved reports condemning official Beijing’s attitude towards the Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities and indicating the need “to avoid starting a conflict with Taiwan”, Reuters reported.
China’s new ambassador to the US, Xie Feng, also took office yesterday when he arrived in New York. He told reporters at John F. Kennedy Airport that relations between the world’s two largest economies face “serious difficulties and challenges,” AP reported. It comes at a time when the two countries are at loggerheads over trade, access to computer chips and Washington’s support for Taiwan.
