Bulgaria is currently engaged in supplying weapons to Ukraine. As stated by the Bulgarian Minister of Economy Bogdan Bogdanov the country’s military production, which includes both the state and private defense industries, recently saw a two-fold increase in output.

– Military production in the state and private sector is working at its maximum capacity. We managed to double our production within a year – he explained.
The Minister of Economy indicated that the Bulgarian military industry is thinking about introducing new products and solutions into its production process.
– We want to ensure that our military products remain competitive in the future – he stated.
The military industry employs more than 70,000 people in Bulgaria.
Bulgaria was one of the first countries in Eastern Europe to agree to provide MiG-29s at the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict. However, such an agreement was not finalized because NATO and Bulgaria’s allies recognized the vital role of these aircraft in protecting Bulgaria’s national security and NATO’s borders.
One of the recent Bulgarian shipments being prepared for Ukraine included 5B55P missiles, components of the S-300 air defense system used by Ukraine’s air defense systems.
