For which European countries do we need an international driver’s license? – Economy

--

Although Serbia has signed agreements on the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses with a large number of European countries, for some it is still necessary for us to have an international driver’s license.

A few days off for the holidays around May 1 and Easter are an ideal opportunity to travel, and for those who travel by car, in addition to passports and wallets, driver’s licenses are also required.

A complete list and basic information to know about the countries you are traveling to can be found on the site Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the current data on that site, an international license, in addition to a valid national one, is required for Sweden, the Czech Republic, France, San Marino, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, Belarus and Monaco.

In Germany, as stated on the MSP website, to drive a motor vehicle you need to have a valid national or international driver’s license, and the national license on the basis of which the international license was issued must always be presented along with the international license.

During a tourist stay in Russia, according to the Ministry’s website, driving a motor vehicle is possible with a Serbian driver’s license, with the condition that it be translated into Russian by an authorized court interpreter or with an international driver’s license.

Somewhere it’s just a recommendation

In some countries, the possession of an international driver’s license is at the level of recommendation.

Thus, the competent authorities of Luxembourg recommend that you have an international driver’s license, because of the translation, the same is true in Spain, Andorra, as well as Belgium.

“During your tourist stay in this country, you can drive a motor vehicle with a Serbian driver’s license. Competent authorities of Belgium recommend that you also have an international driver’s license, because of the translation,” it is stated on the MSP website.

In the countries of the region, drivers from Serbia do not need an international license, and there are countries in Europe that do not require an international license, but require a green card, such as Denmark, Albania, Moldova.

In other European countries, licenses from Serbia are valid, but for longer stays you need to check separately, because after three, six or 12 months, valid national driver’s licenses must be exchanged for licenses from the countries in which you are staying.

There is no data for Great Britain on the MSP website, but on the website of the Government of this country it is stated that it is possible to drive with a national driver’s license for up to one year.
