An unpleasant trend has appeared in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, writes Forbes, describing the situation with the latest failures of two Ukrainian brigades.
“The bad news is that everything that happened to the 115th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is of a systemic nature, this is the second Ukrainian unit that collapsed on the Eastern Front in the last few weeks,” the publication said.
The publication quoted the commander of the 47th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Melnyk as saying that the 115th Brigade was tasked with taking the place of his unit, but “something went wrong” and part of the troops simply fled.
The first unit to fail was the 67th Mechanized Brigade, which fought in the Chasovo Yar area until internal conflicts within its command headquarters began, Forbes writes.
The article notes that they left billions of dollars worth of new weapons on the way, but also that those weapons are useless unless there are enough deployed, organized, and well-rested units to use them.
The Ukrainian military command earlier began inspections against the 67th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the loss of some positions in the DPR, Ukrainian Pravda reported. According to the publication, one of the reasons for that, which the audit revealed, were problems in the brigade itself. In particular, commanders separated military personnel from the nationalist “Right Sector”. They were called “pixels”, the attitude towards them was clearly worse: they were the first to be sent into battle, as a result, due to lack of experience, their casualties were high.
