Russian media announced the arrest of Ivanov on Tuesday evening.

In the Ministry of Defense, Ivanov supervised the construction and overhaul of departmental facilities and was responsible for organizing the management of the ministry’s assets, and, according to the Moscow court, he conspired with Borodin and third parties to receive bribes when concluding contracts for the ministry.

What is Ivanov doing?

Ivanov leads the departments responsible for the construction, planning and coordination of the development of the Russian army. It also solves the issue of housing soldiers, military real estate, military medicine, and manages the federal departments of savings and mortgages for military personnel.

Ivanov was appointed Deputy Minister in May 2016. Forbes included him in the list of Russia’s richest individuals from the security forces for 2019 with an annual salary of 1.36 million euros. Before joining the Ministry of Defense, he worked in the energy sector.
