Alvaro Morata is currently not playing for Atletico Madrid because he has trigeminal neuralgia.

The famous Spanish footballer Alvaro Morata (31) is playing very well this season for Atletico Madrid and has already scored 20 goals in 44 games in all competitions. Statistically speaking, Morata equaled his two best seasons in his career (at Real Madrid and Juventus) in April, but what many don’t know when they see him is that he had never felt worse.

In recent days, Morata has been struggling with a serious, very unusual problem, that is, it is him diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. What it is? It is a disease that appears on the face due to brain nerve damage, which already sounds dangerous enough, and it really is because it is one of the most painful conditions. The disease manifests after all extremely frequent, strong and unbearable pain on the side of the face that is damagedand it can be triggered by literally chewing or swallowing food, even a simple smile.

According to information coming from Spain about Morata’s condition, there are special preparations that are used to reduce the pain, but sometimes they just don’t help. In that case, an operation is necessary to prevent agony, and for now, Atletico Madrid is supporting its player and has allowed him to be absent from the field, as long as it is necessary to evaluate what is the best solution.

Morata has been out of training for several days and did not play against Alaves at the weekend, and the question is whether he will be back next time when Atletico play fifth-placed Bilbao, where a lot can be decided. More precisely, Madrid are fighting for a place in the Champions League and the statistics at the beginning of the text speak volumes about how important Morata is for the “quilters” and that is why it would be ideal if he recovered in time.

For now, it is not known whether Morata will trust the drugs or whether he will undergo surgery, and time is running out since he has an appearance at the European Championship in Germany, where he is sure to be on Spain’s list. In the group stage, Spain plays against Croatia, Italy and Albania, which means that they are in one of the more difficult groups.
