As “Blitz” wrote, five horses from a regiment of British cavalry caused chaos in London, after they overthrew their riders during the morning exercise and ran away. One of them was seriously wounded as a result of running away, and is spotted running through the crowd covered in blood.

A spokesman for the British Army confirmed this afternoon that the animals were “terrified by construction work” when building materials were “thrown from a height”.

Six soldiers and seven horses from the Life Guards were on an extended watering order, an exercise to maintain the fitness of animals not involved in the duties of the Royal Life Guards in public.
But the animals were spooked and fled through the town leaving five people, including three soldiers on horseback, injured in three separate incidents during the nearly ten-kilometre rampage that lasted two hours.
They were finally caught in Limehouse, East London. Speaking after the incident, Lt. Col. Matt Woodward, regimental commander at Calvary, said the horses “subjected to veterinary care” and that they were all safely returned to the Hyde Park barn to recover.
Onlookers said one of the cavalry soldiers was left “screaming in pain” after being thrown from his horse when he crashed into a car outside the Claremont Hotel near Buckingham Palace.

According to one video, two horses can be seen being captured in East London, where it appears to be the white horse broke his leg. The back left leg was covered in blood, but the vets bandaged it on the spot.
– The horses stopped and the police caught up with them. It looked as if the white horse had broken its leg – said one of the eyewitnesses.
There was so much blood that there wasn’t enough water to clean it up, so the fire engine had to be called to hose down the area. All the horses were captured and taken into custody by 10.30am, the Met Police said.
– Every morning, the cavalry regiment in London exercises about 150 horses in parks and on roads. This keeps them fit and helps them get used to the noise of the city, so it’s easier to panic at parades. This morning, however, a small group of horses were spooked by construction work on a quiet side road in Belgravia, where building materials were dropped from a height right next to them. The ensuing shock caused all the horses to run and dislodge some of the riders. Our immediate priority was the safety and well-being of all soldiers, citizens and our horses – explained the regimental commander.
As previously reported, the horses ran through the streets of Victoria and made it as far east as Aldwich before being calmed and stopped by police on the motorway near Limehouse.
The Household Cavalry — the regiment from which the horses came — guards the monarch at Buckingham Palace and acts as the sovereign’s mounted escort on state occasions.
