Consumer Reports took a closer look at the car maintenance costs of American drivers. In the annual survey, he simply asked owners about the costs they incur for maintenance and repairs.

The analysis shows that costs skyrocket only after a few years when warranty and free maintenance periods end. But there are also big differences between different brands.
By far the cheapest to maintain five and ten years after purchase, according to research, Tesla and the most expensive Land Rover.
“The difference in car maintenance is expressed in thousands of dollars over a 10-year period. Furthermore, expensive luxury cars are often quite expensive to maintain,” said Stephen Elek, director of data analysis at Consumer Reports.
