Although the weather is not even close to summer at the moment, many are already thinking about where they will go on vacation, and Mondo reveals to you what the prices are in 2024 in Cyprus.

Wars in the world, inflation caused by conflicts made many people think about what prices they can expect this year on vacation. One of the countries that is slowly but surely becoming a favorite Serbian resort is Cyprus.

The sun that warms even 360 days a year, beautiful beaches and flights with low-cost airlines from Belgrade are the reasons why more and more people choose this destination.

The season lasts from April to November, although lower temperatures can be expected in the first and last months. As for April, if you don’t like too many crowds and high heat, and you are a little braver about entering slightly cooler water, then this is the ideal month for Cyprus.

How to get to Cyprus

There are numerous agencies in Cyprus, as well as popular Instagram pages for very little money. By far the cheapest option is to buy the plane tickets and book the accommodation yourself. Wizz-air flies from Belgrade, three times a week, that is, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It is necessary to invest some time in the search in order to find the cheapest tickets, and they can be found for as little as 1,500 dinars. As for accommodation, read below which city offers what, and based on that you can choose what suits you best.

Where to vacation in Cyprus

It is important to know that Cyprus belongs to the European Union, but also that it is divided into two parts – Greek and Turkish. Northern Cyprus declared independence in 1974, but was recognized only by Turkey. Serbia has not recognized this occupied part of the island and it is not recommended to travel there. On the official website of the Ministry of the Republic of Serbia, it is stated that you may not enter the northern part of Cyprus if your final destination is to spend the night on the occupied part of the island, but you can only reach it through legal border crossings, i.e. you must first land at the airport in Larnaca or Paphos, or via ports in Limassol and Larnaca.

This division should not worry you too much, because agencies in Serbia, as well as airlines, fly to the Greek part of the island, more precisely to the airport in Larnaca, so you cannot accidentally find yourself in the occupied part of the island.

Ayia Napa

The most famous city is Ayia Napa, which you can reach by bus from Larnaca, from the airport itself you need to catch a local bus that leads to the center, i.e. Finikoudes. At the same place you are waiting for the bus to Ayia Napa and the price of this ticket is 4 euros one way. After about half an hour to 45 minutes of driving, you arrive at the most beautiful European beach called Nissi.

Crystal clear water and fine golden sand are its trademark. As for the price of a set of deck chairs, two deck chairs and an umbrella will cost you 7.5 euros, and if you don’t want an umbrella, you will pay 5 euros. On the beach itself you have bars that offer food, but there are also a handful of restaurants waiting for you if you go out into the street. It’s mostly about Cypriot food, i.e. gyros, kleftiko (their specialty is lamb marinated in garlic, feta cheese and lemon), Greek pies, various fish and the like. The offer and prices are mostly the same, from 10 euros for the cheapest meal in the restaurant. The price of coffee starts from 1.5 euros, juices from 2 euros, alcohol from 3 euros and up. It should also be noted that Ayia Napa is known for its nightlife, so it is often the choice of the younger population.

In addition to Nissi beach, which is the most famous, you can also find golden sand on the beach next to it, which is called Makronisos. If you are traveling by bus from the direction of Larnaca, it is the stop before Nissi. On the other side, to the east, there is Konos beach, which is a little less accessible and has both sand and rocks. The prices of deckchairs here are also 7.5 euros for a set.

Larnaca

The airport in Larnaca is the main advantage of this city, as well as good connections with all other cities. Buses depart from the center, Finikoudes, which is also the city’s largest sandy beach. As for the price of transportation tickets, they are mostly 4 euros to other tourist places. Although previously it was possible to buy a return ticket for 7 euros, this year it is not possible.

The transport is punctual, it leaves on time and there are digital screens at the station that announce how many minutes it leaves and to which destination the bus is traveling. Tickets are bought from the driver and you don’t have an information counter here, but with a digital screen, a printed timetable, you don’t even need one. Another attraction of this city is the salt lake, which is located near the airport and where you can see flamingos during the fall, when about 10,000 of them take a break during their migration to the south. However, it should be emphasized that you are not expecting exotic pink specimens like those from Aruba, but rather lighter, more white, large birds.

Limassol

The city in the western part of the island, which is the second largest city, attracts a large number of tourists.

Many large and new buildings on the coast give the impression that you are in Miami or somewhere similar. A spacious promenade with a number of restaurants is certainly a trademark of Limassol.

In terms of prices, it is reputed to be the most expensive city in Cyprus. Prices in restaurants are slightly higher, so the cheapest meal in an average restaurant is 15 euros. It should be noted here that the prices of deck chairs are the same, so a set of two deck chairs and an umbrella is 7.5 euros on the long sandy beach.

Paphos

In addition to Larnaca, there is also an airport in Paphos, but there are no flights to it from Belgrade. You can reach it by bus from Larnaca. There is a legend associated with Paphos that put it on the World Heritage List, and it is the beach where it is believed that Aphrodite was born and that, according to legend, bathing rejuvenates. The sunset from this place is spectacular.

Also, right in Paphos, there is a large archaeological site “Royal Tomb”, where numerous tombs were found with properties associated with kings and nobles, but there is no evidence that they were buried in this place.

They originate from the 4th century BC. Because of this site, the entire city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There are numerous beaches near the city, and Kato Paphos is the southern part of the city located on the sea coast. This part is a real paradise for tourists with many hotels, cafes, restaurants and shops.
