On the occasion of the celebration of the anniversary of the liberation of Italy in the Second World War, riots broke out in Duomo Square in Milan when the Jewish community showed up and pro-Palestinian demonstrators clashed with the police.

The Italian police intervened, and the two demonstrators were stopped and taken to the police station.

Police headquarters explained that it was a “group of agitated young North Africans”, some of whom were carrying Palestinian flags and chanting “Zionists out” and “Free Palestine”.

Pro-Palestinian supporters threw bottles at police officers in uniform, after which the forces intervened again, while some booed the Italian national anthem and Mayor Giuseppe Sala, reports Ansa.

“We estimated that the number of attendees was over 100,000. There will be no protest on this Liberation Day. There are more of us than we thought there would be,” said the president of the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI) Primo Minelli.
