It was on the plane 12 crew members and 63 passengers, including Jaroslav Kudrinsky’s two children, who were on their first international voyage. Halfway through the flight, the most experienced pilot is Captain Andrey Danilov left the cockpit to rest, leaving Kudrinsky (39) and First Officer Igor Piskaryev (33) in charge of the controls by plane.

Let the kids into the cockpit

With the airplane on autopilot and the course set, Kudrinsky took the opportunity to invite his two children into the cockpit for a tour of the cockpit while most of the passengers were asleepreports the Daily Star.

Wanting to give them an unforgettable experience, he allowed each of them to sit in the captain’s seat and touch the controls to make them feel like they were in charge by plane.

Lana (12) took her turn first without any complications, her father adjusting the flight path so that it looked like he was turning the plane slightly even though the autopilot was still in control.

Then it was the turn of Edgar, her 16-year-old brother. Once again, Kudrinsky is short manipulated the controls to give his son a chance to fly the plane, but in his excitement, the boy pushed the control column hard.

Unbeknownst to the flight crew, this caused the aircraft’s autopilot to disengage and Edgar was indeed in control of the aircraft at that point. A silent warning appeared on the cockpit but went off before either pilot noticed.

“Edgar, run, go to the back, go to the back”

Realizing what his son had done, Kudrinsky, as can be heard on the video, told his son to put down the controls.

– Edgar, run. Go back, go back Edgar! You see the danger, don’t you? Go away, go Edgar! Go away, go away. I’m telling you to go! – said the pilot.

The plane was moving at a dangerously high bank of 90 degrees, and on the video, First Officer Piskarev can be heard urging Kudrinsky to give “full power” to the engine in order to right the aircraft. However, the plane could not sustain such a steep turn and stalled. While the pilots were initially able to correct this and return the aircraft to a normal angle, the inexperienced first officer accidentally overshot and stalled the aircraft again.

The plane crashed into a mountain range

The plane began to spin, but despite efforts to right it again, they lost too much altitude and crashed into the Kuznetsk mountain range, instantly killing everyone on board.

The whole tragic situation unfolded in just two minutes.

Although Aeroflot initially denied the presence of children in the cockpit during the crash, they eventually admitted the existence of a passenger in the cockpit when the black box data revealed the truth.
