– The joint fight against international terrorism in Syria is a striking example of our long-standing friendly relations between the leaders of the military departments – Shoigu said during a working meeting with Ashtiani in Astana.

According to Shoigu, “the cooperation between Russia and Iran has always been dynamic and multifaceted”.

– This is required by the current military-political situation and threats to our countries, as well as general approaches to building a just world order based on the equality of all participants in the international community – said the Russian Minister of Defense.

Relations between Moscow and Tehran are deepening, expanding and reaching a new level, the Iranian defense minister said.

He expressed gratitude to the Russian Defense Minister for supporting Iran when Israeli forces attacked the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, as well as for Moscow’s “balanced reaction” to what he called Tehran’s “proportionate response.”

Shoigu and the Iranian Defense Minister participated in a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana, Kazakhstan, which includes, along with Iran and Russia, India, China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
