Disputed statements about blood feud

The Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica opened a case regarding the interview of the former President of Montenegro and DPS Milo Đukanović.

It is an interview with Radio Antena M from Podgorica, in which Đukanović called the latest arrests of his closest associates political revanchism and compared them to blood revenge.

After a detailed analysis of the interview, the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office will, if necessary, take other measures and actions in order to make a decision on a possibly committed criminal act, the RTCG portal was informed by the Higher Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica.

– The Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica opened a case regarding the publication of an interview on portals, which was given to Antena M by M. Đ., which was submitted by the Police Administration for assessment to this prosecutor’s office in order to review the possible existence of elements of a criminal offense for which prosecution is undertaken ex officio, the prosecutor’s office stated.

It is added that the Prosecutor’s Office has given an order to the Police Directorate to obtain and deliver to this Prosecutor’s Office an interview in electronic form from Radio Antena M, and, as they say, after a detailed analysis of the interview, other measures and actions will be taken, if necessary, in order to make a decision.

In the interview, Đukanović also said that the country lives in a “poisoned atmosphere” and that, as he stated, “the blackmail in Montenegro will continue”. He also stated that he is obliged to warn about this, because “Montenegro society is a society of vigilantes”.

– This is not characteristic only of Albanian communities, which are mostly associated with blood feuds – said Đukanović and added that “in the heart of Montenegro, in Katunska Nahija, blood feuds between certain Old Montenegrin families have been going on for more than 200 years”.

– Well, those who don’t know that don’t understand how dangerous it is when your only policy after coming to power becomes revanchism. Revanchism is just a political name for revenge. This means that there is no awareness that a line should be drawn under the Montenegrin practice of revenge. The one who is doing what he is doing now does not realize that he has already started a new page of Montenegrin revenges. And he is making a big mistake if he does not recognize his handcuffs tomorrow, in those handcuffs he gloats over, on the hands of other people, Đukanović said.
