GAZA – Doctor Muhamad Al-Mughir, director of Gaza’s civil defense, said today that the exhumation of the body from the “Nasser” medical complex in Khan Younis has been completed.
He said the search and recovery of bodies from the mass graves took a week, partly due to limited resources, Al Jazeera reported.
More than 300 bodies were found at the Nasser Medical Complex, including some with their hands tied, without clothes and shot in the head.
The Palestinian Civil Defense stated that there is clear evidence that the Israeli army committed crimes against humanity by carrying out summary executions.
The UN and EU have called for urgent investigations, but Stefan Dužarik, a spokesman for the UN secretary-general, said that while the organization is gathering information about the mass graves at Nasser Hospital, the UN legislative body’s mandate to preserve the evidence needs to be established.
Mass graves were also discovered at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the largest health facility in the enclave, which the UN Human Rights Council said was an “empty shell” after the two-week Israeli siege ended there on April 1, Tanjug reports.
